Gather:  

  • Recycled peanut butter jar, coffee can, mason jar or whatever you can find
  • Strips of paper
  • Something to decorate or label the outside of the jar
  • Marker

 

Prepare:

Write “I’m BORED!” on the outside of the container. On the paper strips, write activities, chores, books to read, crafts to make. You can make up your own list, but below are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Bake cookies – take them to a neighbor.
  • Play a board game.
  • Play a card game.
  • Read for 30 minutes.
  • Build with Legos.
  • Draw a picture of your pet.
  • Write a poem.
  • Count your blessings (write them down).
  • Clean the glass doors.
  • Take a bubble bath.
  • Go outside and find a bug – draw a picture of it.
  • Paint a rock.
  • Call a grandparent.
  • Read a book to someone.
  • Turn on some music and dance.
  • Your choice for dinner.
  • Write a letter to a friend.
  • Drive in movie – Make a car from a box and sit it in it to watch a movie.
  • Build a tent with sheets or blankets.
  • Listen to a “Books of the Bible” song until you have it memorized.
  • Write a story where you are a superhero.
  • Create a picture from kitchen items such as dried beans, popcorn, pasta, glue and paper.
  • Play with Play Doh.
  • Create a city on your sidewalk with sidewalk chalk.
  • Draw roads and play with cars.
  • Bathe the dog.
  • Find objects in the kitchen to use as band instruments.
  • Play along with music.
  • Find a YouTube Kids yoga video and do it.
  • Work a puzzle.
  • Create something from the arts and crafts box.
  • Bowling – Make your own bowling lane with water or soda bottles and a ball.
  • Play hopscotch.
  • Play in the sprinkler.
  • Make up a secret handshake with a friend.
  • Color.
  • Make a person with pipe cleaners.
  • Build a building with playing cards.
  • Build something with paper towel rolls.
  • Have a tea party.
  • Blow bubbles.
  • Clean out your toys and donate.
  • Make and fly paper airplanes.
  • Build something with toothpicks and glue.
  • Play Hot/Cold.
  • Play Simon Says.
  • Play Uno.
  • Go to the library.
  • SORRY! Fold laundry.
  • SORRY! Clean the bathtub.
  • SORRY! Wash the dishes.
  • Sorry! Sweep the front porch.
  • SORRY! Take out the trash.
  • SORRY! Sweep the garage.
  • SORRY! Clean our your closet.
